OktoberFest

As the summer draws to a close, the best season is upon us. Oktoberfest. Even if you dont know who the Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese are, if you are reading this you probably know that this is the season of mild smooth malty lagvers and 1 litre steins and drindels and leiterhosen and b lue and white pennents on strings and oompa loompa bads and all the rest.

There are a string of events in the Boise area spannign 3 weeks or so, to help xelevbrate this 215 year oild tradition. to celebrate this 215 year old tradition. Payette Brewing , Das Aplen HJaus was the weekend of the 19th-20th, Powderhaus was the weekend after and this coming Oct 3rd is Lose Screw’s turn for the festivities.

Traditioanl beers fcor this event are typically lagers, charactixed by smooth malty brews that are sub tle on hops but long on “sessionableness”. These means they are built for and intended to be dirinked over teh course of a loing adternpoon/evening. At a compnyly 4-5.5 % ABV you will as likely get full of the beer before you get too tipsety. Though there are “pros” out there that can do it.

Boise area establishments participalting in this will stull have the American favorites, IPAs and stouts etc, but this time of year most places will find room on their tap list for a few German stlkye lagers.
